Dr. Roland Attends LVI Global Physiologic Dentistry Lectures

In her commitment to provide the most effective and comprehensive treatment for patients at our Annapolis practice, cosmetic dentist Yasaman Roland, DDS will attend two continuing education courses at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies (LVI Global) in early September. These courses will focus on refining and modernizing the techniques used to evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide spectrum of TMJ Disorder (TMD) cases, as well as deepening the understanding between craniofacial development and conditions like obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Introducing cutting-edge approaches to treatment planning that can provide solutions within the context of real-world application, the techniques learned during these courses are designed to enhance not only the oral health of our patients, but also their physiological health and wellness.

The first course that Dr. Roland will participate in covers an array of components related to TMJ treatment, including fundamental mandibular positioning skills, normal versus irregular TMJ function, and TMD pain relief, as well as posture correction techniques and the relationship between OSA and TMD. This can allow more accurate evaluation of the temporomandibular joint with regard to identifying trigger points, treating joint inflammation, and repositioning the shock-absorbing disc above the TMJ.

The second course will expound upon the concepts learned in the first course, allowing participants to master patient diagnoses as well as their understanding of craniomandibular disorders, the effect of sleep breathing disorders on one’s physiological health, and the relationship between posture and occlusion (biting function), among other advanced concepts. The curriculum of both courses also delves into use of the state-of-the-art equipment and technology that can aid in the treatment planning process, such as CBCT scans, which provide more advanced 3D imaging of the soft tissues, nerves, bones, and teeth.

Dr. Roland is committed to extending all-encompassing treatment to individuals affected by TMJ pain or sleep apnea symptoms and looks forward to learning the techniques that will enable her to treat a broader range of cases, ranging from simple to complex. If you have any questions about our holistic dental services, or would like to schedule a consultation with Dr. Roland, please reach out to our practice today.
