Dental implants are an innovative solution for replacing missing teeth that far surpasses the esthetics and functionality of removable dentures and bridges. Made to resemble your natural tooth structure, dental implants can look, feel, and function much like natural teeth. Dental implants are secured within the jawbone to provide exceptional stability for the customized restorations that are fastened on top. With proper care, dental implants can provide you with a beautiful smile that lasts a lifetime.
Benefits of Dental Implants
Dental implants offer several important benefits over other tooth replacement options. Patients considering dental implants are generally pleased to learn that dental implants and restorations:
- Are designed to look and feel natural
- Can prevent jawbone loss
- Are typically more stable, comfortable, and reliable than removable dentures and bridges
- Are custom-designed to suit your smile and complement surrounding teeth
- Will not slip or move when chewing, speaking, and smiling
- Require only regular brushing and flossing to maintain
- Are durable and long-lasting with the proper care
With dental implants, it is possible to regain proper chewing function and enjoy any food you like without worry. Furthermore, they can improve your speech, enhance confidence, and prevent shrinkage of the jaw bone. The dental implant procedure typically has high success rates. Our experienced Annapolis dentist—Yasaman Roland, DDS—offers advanced dental implant systems designed to further reduce the likelihood of potential complications.
Best Dentist Ever! Dr. Roland is the best dentist I have ever gone to! Not only is the equipment state of the art, but Dr. Roland really cares about her patients and only wants the best treatment for them. She doesn’t push treatments that you don’t need, just to make a buck! And her assistant Debbie is great too! I recommend Dr. Roland to everyone I know.
Candidates for Dental Implants
If you are looking to restore missing teeth with a long-term replacement that offers maximum esthetic value, health benefits, and function, you may be a good candidate for dental implants. When considering patients for dental implants, Dr. Roland performs an extensive dental and medical evaluation to determine if they are an ideal candidate or if they need some degree of treatment before the procedure would be appropriate. Typically, good candidates for dental implants have:
- Good general health
- Healthy teeth and gums
- Adequate jawbone height and density
Dental Implant Systems We Offer
We offer a modern implant system that is innovative by design. Its high degree of precision can actually eliminate the potential for bacterial growth around the implant. Additionally, the long-term risk of bone loss can be significantly reduced, often resulting in implants that are durable and biologically more favorable to the body.
What to Expect During the Dental Implants Procedure
The dental implant procedure begins with implantation of the artificial titanium post (or posts) within the jawbone. Once the implants have been placed, they will need some time to fuse to the bone and become a permanent part of your mouth – much like a natural tooth root. This usually takes approximately three to six months (a temporary dental crown can be placed atop the post during this period). When the dental implant has fully fused with the jawbone, a custom-designed restoration made to both look and feel natural will be affixed to the post. Once the final polish has been performed, the process is complete.
In addition to full dental implant procedures, Dr. Roland can utilize dental implants to support bridges and dentures. During your initial consultation, we will perform a full oral evaluation to determine whether you are a candidate for dental implants. We will be happy to answer any questions you may have and talk with you about your options.
